Writing Hit Songs
I co-wrote “Wildlife” in LA with a very talented singer/songwriter named August Rigo. We’d been working on writing several hit songs while I had been out there and felt like this night would be special. August and I were working in the studio for a couple days listening to tracks and Rob Knox (producer) was letting us hear some stuff. Rob played us a couple of tracks and Wildlife came on. We knew right then that it was going to be a hit song. It had a gratifying feel to it and sort of like upbeat, crazy, positive, drum smacking kind of thing that we knew would be a club banger. We then started writing hit songs with melodies to the verses, and to tell you the truth, the process came very easy. After some intense brainstorming, phrases like the “I’m the King of the Jungle, “Your the Queen of the night” started to make sense for the vocals. We had a lot of fun from then on. It started to feel like a perfect hybrid between a party and feel good track. There were a lot of things going on in the track and we loved it! As each hour went by, everyone knew that this song was going to be special.
